Tereza Bio

Tereza Sterbova-Conway is a Czech-born abstract expressionist artist. Tereza paints with a freedom of movement, a “no rules” richness of shapes and colors, and a spontaneity of expression that brings each canvas to life.

Born and raised in the highly-cultured UNESCO World Heritage Site of Litomysl in the Czech Republic, also known as the birthplace of world famous composer Bedrich Smetana, Tereza was exposed to the arts throughout her younger years. She was drawing and painting during her free time as early as five years old.

In 2006 Tereza moved to Ireland, changing her life forever. The verdant green countryside and the warmth of the Irish people stole her heart and energized her creativity. This new environment inspired her to develop a fresh, bold and innovative painting style that flourished in her new homeland.

Tereza began pushing the boundaries of her art by exploring new techniques and bold colors. She says, “I approach each new canvas with no plan; I trust my intuition. My art is an expression of the energy in my daily life. It’s like a diary reflecting the beauty of my garden, the chaos of being a mother of two young children, the kind people in our community, and the love of family. These things make me happy, and this is what I paint. My hope it is that you feel these things when you see my art. In essence it’s an expression of the joy in my heart”.
